You may have heard that future conflicts will be fought over clean water.
The reality is, access to clean water is shaped every day by individual actions, business practices, leadership decisions, and written policy. These are the levers that determine how water is protected, used, and shared—now and for future generations.
Understanding how this system works is the first step in maintaining a reliable connection to this vital resource.
A Connected System
Water moves through a connected system.
Some of it flows across the surface.
Some of it moves through the ground.
All of it is part of the same cycle.
Rain and snow soak into the soil, flow into streams, replenish underground water reserves, and move through the landscape over time. This movement is shaped by land, soil, vegetation, and how we build and manage our surroundings.
What Happens at the Surface Carries Through
